What is GSuite for Education?

"GSuite for Education is a core suite of productivity applications that Google offers to schools and educational institutions for FREE. These communication and collaboration apps include Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs and Sites, and a GSuite account unlocks access to dozens of other collaborative tools supported by Google. All of these applications exists completely online (or in the cloud), meaning that all creations can be accessed from any device with an Internet connection. Once a school decides to embrace GSuite for Education, they can register their school domain (web address), and administer all teacher and student accounts from an administrative dashboard."


Gmail is an email service that makes student-teachers communication easier. Every students and teacher gets a @chavezwaterman.com account which includes Gmail service.

Google Drive

Google Drive is like an online hard drive where you can store all your files. Drive has unlimited storage, so staff and students don’t have to worry about space.

Google Docs

Google Docs is like an online office apps, which include a document processor, data sheets process and presentations processor.

Google Forms

Google Forms is a survey, assignments, and questionnaire creation tool available for both students and teachers.


Google Classroom is an app that streamline the process of sharing files between teachers and students. Only approved teachers can create classes.

Google Groups

Google Groups is a service that provides mailing list features and security groups features. Only staff can create groups.

Google Calendar

Google calendar is an online calendar that allows you to create events, invite people, reserve resources, etc.

Google Vault

Google Apps Vault is an add-on for Google Apps that lets you retain, archive, search, and export your organization's email and chat messages for your eDiscovery and compliance needs.

Google Sites

Google Sites allows for the creation of websites for student or teacher use.

Google Hangouts

Google Hangouts allows staff to communicate easily across domains and users as if it was a text message. This service is not available for students.

Google Admin

Google Admin allows teachers and staff to quickly reset student passwords and based on the security role, manage some attribute of students accounts, including email, alias, suspend students, unsuspend, etc. Certain staff will have access to control full groups, and services for the domain.

What Happens to my account IF i TERMINATE MY SERVICES WITH CCAHS?

Since @chavezwaterman.com accounts are intended for our current staff , if the work relationship between you and CCAHS terminate, your account will be suspended immediately.


If you account gets suspended, it will remain in the system up to 5 years. If you wish to make a copy of your data and transfer it to another account, use the GOOGLE TAKEOUT tool to export a copy of your data out. If your account gets suspended and you need to gain access to take a copy of your data, follow the following steps:

  1. Make an official request to use TAKE OUT tool to make a copy of your data via email to gsuite@chavezwaterman.com
  2. Someone from administration will review your request and unsuspend your account and email you a temporary password.
  3. Use the GOOGLE TAKEOUT tool to export your data within the 48 hour period.
  4. Your account will be suspended after 48 hours of your request's approval.
